Debt, in today’s society, has already become a normal part of one’s life. Some people say they still have a good financial life even if they have lots of debt but isn’t it better if you are living your life without thinking that one day, your debt might be uncontrollable? Your debt now may seem to be manageable and it is best to settle them early rather than waiting for it to grow. Here are 5 tips to be debt free.

Stop spending too much. The most common reason why people have debt is because they spend too much exceeding the amount they can only afford. Stop that habit, cut off on unnecessary expenses and be wiser the next time you spend your money. Spending too much may be fun but would never be worth it.

Start budgeting. Budgeting surely does monitor your expenses and helps you stay within your limit. To begin, take note of all the expenses you make daily and monthly. This will include your foods, gas, bills, loans and more. Next is to see how much money comes in. Divide your income to all your expenses and set the minimum if possible so that more money can be allotted to pay for your debt or you can at least put some for your savings.

Increase your payments. See to it that you pay more than the minimum all the time so that you can get out of debt as sooner as possible. Simply paying the minimum will take you long years before you would be able to eliminate all your debt.

Stop credit card purchasing. Settle your credit card debt, stop using them and start buying everything with cash. If you want to have a credit card for emergency purposes, get one with a low interest and limit.

Settle first your small debts. While there are two options on how to pay your debt, whether starting on the smallest one or the biggest one, many prefer to do the former because totally eliminating small debt gives happiness therefore motivates them more to erase the others.
